So if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar and go. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.
Behind the Scenes With the Elder Council
February 8, 2010
When Tim Johnson, chairman of the elder council, recently sent out a meeting agenda to the elders, he wrote the following: Please consider the following quotes take from The Dangerous Duty of Delight as we prepare to begin a new decade—a decade that will likely be the last on this earth for some of us:
- Our hearts are restless until they find their rest in Thee.—Saint Augustine
- If I find in myself a desire which no experience in this world can satisfy, the most probable explanation is that I was made for another world.—C.S. Lewis
- There is no reality more breathtaking than Jesus Christ.—John Piper
- One thing have I asked of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to inquire in His temple.—Psalm 27:4 (RSV)
