Racial Harmony Roundtable

Campus & Location:
Downtown, 114

3rd Saturday of the Month, October–May, 10:00am–Noon*

Join us this month on February 20, as we watch and discuss The Tuskegee Airmen, a one-hour World War II film on black American aviators. This inspiring story spotlights 450 men who fought on two fronts at once. These men battled Axis powers (military alliances) in Europe and North America and then took on racism at home.

Trained by the segregated military system as an experiment to see if blacks could fly in combat, these pilots made more than 1,500 missions and 15,000 sorties (deployment or dispatch of one military unit). Their success led to the integration of the US armed forces.

We are committed to taking steps to express racial harmony visibly in and outside the church for the glory of Christ. The roundtable is designed as a gathering of all interested in gaining insight and making contributions to racial harmony at Bethlehem.

We seek to foster a growing understanding of issues and encouraging relationships that cross racial lines.

We believe communication is the key to any relationship that aims to be healthy, productive and, in this context, honoring to Christ. The hope is that all our dialogue will be open, honest and bathed in humility as the goal is not to “win” but to foster an atmosphere where cross-cultural relationships can build on understanding, not assumptions, and all to the glory of God and the joy of this fellowship.

*A luncheon will be served from noon–1:30pm, immediately following the discussion at our meetings on Mar 20 and May 15 (other months, we end our gathering at noon).
