Delighting to Study; Studying to Delight

For some people, delight and study don't go together. And for others TBI stands for Traumatic Brain Injury rather than The Bethlehem Institute (yes, we have dignified the word "the"). Are we crazy to think that people want to take their precious time and invest it in serious study of the Bible? We don't think so. More and more people are realizing that the Bible isn't something to be toyed with. It is not something to be neglected on a bookshelf or left lying on a coffee table.
Not only has the Bible played a profound role in world history, but for Jesus himself -- it was his very life. And so it must be for us. "Man does not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God" (Deuteronomy 8:3; Matthew 4:4).
The Whole Counsel of God
Here at Bethlehem (all three campuses) there are courses and seminars being offered which have been established by the leaders of Bethlehem. Our purpose is to ensure that the whole counsel of God, as we understand it, will be communicated year in and year out by a team of gifted teachers.
We are also committed to empower students, young and old, with the tools of learning so that they can read, understand, and apply the Bible for themselves. TBI is our attempt to encourage ordinary human beings to be trained to handle the extraordinary Word of God carefully and in a relevant, life-giving way.
Our Courses and Academic Credit
We have four core courses. These courses are designed to lay a solid foundation for understanding the whole counsel of God and to teach the necessary skills to study the Bible for ourselves. And we have an ever growing list of electives that will challenge even the most seasoned students. You can take the best of TBI courses one by one or you can cover TBI Essentials with the same group of students under the tutelage of a Bethlehem elder (or another seasoned leader) over a two year period of time.
TBI partners with other academic institutions to offer programs that can be taken for college credit and graduate credit.
Seminary-Level Training
We also have a mentored-ministry program designed to equip future pastors and missionaries in a church-based environment. The "apprentices" in this program can earn up to 50 graduate level hours of credit at a variety of seminaries, while gaining practical ministry experience in the local church.
Distance Education
TBI is currently developing church-based curriculum which can be used in local churches around the world and a distance education program that will be accessible to any person anywhere at any time.
