Join Us in Covenant Membership
In Acts 2:46-47, we see a picture of corporate spiritual vitality in the Church. They are together in the temple, in one another's homes and accountable for each other's lives. From the start, this has been the normal pattern for the Church to worship together. To belong to the Head of the Church means being a member of Christ's body. What do our pastors and elders hope to expect from our covenant members? Open our Profile of a Member (pdf) at Bethlehem. While there are many paths to our front door, we've paved the following walkway into supportive, accountable membership at Bethlehem:
ASK Membership Class
If you're considering becoming a member at Bethlehem, we invite you to the upcoming ASK Membership Class. Sessions include explanations of what it means to be a Christian, what Baptists believe, what is distinctive about Bethlehem, and a description of the benefits and expectations for covenant membership. This class is one of the requirements for membership and an opportunity to learn about Bethlehem and meet others in the membership process.
This is a two-part class, either offered on two weekday evenings (Monday and Tuesday, 6:30 to 9:00 PM) or on a weekend (Friday evening, 7:00 to 9:00 PM and Saturday morning, 9:00 AM to noon). Class size is limited; please contact us to pre-register. View our church calendar or call the church to find out when this class is offered next.
Ready to Go Forward?
After completing the class, those who are ready may proceed through the following steps:
- Sign the Church Covenant, a definition of how we are committed to living life together.
- Request a membership interview with one of our elders, where membership candidates have an opportunity to share how Christ became their highest treasure, any previous experiences of church membership, and their willingness to express faith through baptism if they have yet to do so. (See our church calendar for upcoming Baptism Classes.)
- Participate in a Covenant Affirmation worship service. Together with others who have completed preparation outlined above, each new member voices his or her hearty "I do" to the Church Covenant and is received by congregational vote into Bethlehem's congregation.
